Meet Dr. Amanda
Licensed Professional Counselor/Psychotherapist
Greetings! I am Dr. Amanda Davis, DPC, LPC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor/Psychotherapist for the state of Texas. I am the owner of Sunshine Counseling DPC, PLLC. I am originally from Mississippi and I have been a resident in Katy, Tx. since 2016.
I have a strong desire to help others and I use a solution focused approach mixed with interventions of (CBT) cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy, and emotion focused therapy (EFT). I consider myself a very non-traditional therapist and strive to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible in my sessions. I have identified that we all deal with different life stressors and just need different coping tools to manage those stressors. I utilize a personalized and individualized approach without the usage of a “one size fits all” analogy. We are all different and I ensure that all of my client’s treatment plans are personalized to fit their individual & personal needs.
I work with adults (21+) and veterans with my specialty being couples. My multicultural competency and ability to see different perspectives enables me to meet individuals where they are. At a young age, I noticed that I was always there to support those around me in their time of need and considered myself a very genuine, unique, authentic, caring, and honest individual. This self awareness influenced me to want to help others become the best versions of themselves that they can possibly be.
Over the years, I have continuously proven my dedication to helping individuals reach their goals for improved mental and emotional well-being. My versatile background has spanned a combination of therapeutic and leadership roles, from Director of Adult Services, Outpatient Therapist, Intellectual Disabilities Professional, and Lead Rehab Clinician. Through this work and my graduate-level training, I’ve developed a comprehensive understanding of psychology, human behavior, and methods for counseling individuals with wide-ranging mental health needs. I am a naturally articulate person, capable of building trust with my clients. Above all, I have a passion for connecting with people from all walks of life and offering my strengths to enact positive change on an individual and organizational level. I know it can be a different experience opening up to someone new. However, I am here to take this new journey with you and build a rapport and a comfortable environment to help you promote change. I thank you in advance for entrusting me with your personal life story and experiences.
I consider myself a Christian and utilize faith based practices in my counseling sessions to clients who request it. However, I will not impose my spiritual beliefs onto my clients who do not prefer to utilize faith in sessions. It is your choice.
